Squawkle: Scribble in the sand. Outsmart the gull.

A drawing game for iPhone and iPad. The other crabs have to guess your doodle before Gulliver, a know-it-all robot gull, figures it out.

Coming soon to the App Store

How it works

iPhone and iPad, iOS 17.2 or later

How it works

  1. 1Pick a bottle

Three bottles wash ashore, each with a word. The faster Gulliver usually spots a word, the more points it’s worth.

  2. 2Draw for the crabs, not the gull

Draw so the other players get it, but Gulliver doesn’t. Watch his lens: blue, then yellow, then red as he gets close.

  3. 3Guess before Gulliver

Beat the gull for bonus points. A perfect bluff, where people get it and Gulliver never does, is worth the most.

Five ways to play

Online with other players, alone against Gulliver, or together on one phone.

  • Daily Doodle

10 doodles, the same for everyone.

New ones every day, with a Game Center leaderboard. Always against Sharp Gulliver, so it’s fair.

  • Gull Duel

    Guess before Gulliver

Race the gull on doodles from Quick, Draw!. You can play it while you wait for a match, too.

  • Practice

    Gulliver guesses

Draw on your own and see how fast he spots it. Pick Sleepy, Sharp or Eagle-eyed.

  • The Beach

Play online. Robot crabs fill in.

2 to 6 players and Gulliver, through Game Center. Or invite your Game Center friends.

  • Party

Pass the phone, beat the gull.

2 to 8 players on one iPhone or iPad. No internet needed.

A safe beach

Crabs of all ages play here, so we keep it friendly.

  • The Lifeguard checks every stroke

Before anyone sees it: on your device, and again on theirs. Letters, words and rude drawings are swept away.

  • No chat

Players can’t send each other messages. Others only see a guess if it’s a word from the game.

  • Report and block

Tap a player to report or block them. We look at every report within 24 hours.

  • Made for families

Squawkle follows Game Center’s parental controls. Players under 18 only play online with their Game Center friends.

Gulliver thinks on your device

Gulliver learned to see from the doodles in Google’s Quick, Draw! dataset. He runs on your iPhone or iPad, and so does the Lifeguard. Your drawings are never sent to AI services.

  • No account
  • No ads
  • No tracking

Want to help Gulliver get smarter? You can share your doodles anonymously. It’s off unless you turn it on, and we never ask players under 18.

  • Drawing a crab in the sand while Gulliver flies above and asks: crab?
  • After the round: Gulliver got the snowflake, and shows how long it took him.
  • Gull Duel: Gulliver got it first, with 4 seconds left and one letter showing.
  • The night beach: the home screen in dark mode, with the moon and stars.

Questions

When can I play?

Soon. Squawkle is almost ready and is coming to the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

Do I need Game Center?

Only to play online and for the Daily Doodle leaderboard. Gull Duel, Practice, Party and the Daily Doodle itself work without it.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Invite your Game Center friends to the beach, or play Party with 2 to 8 players on one iPhone or iPad.

Which languages?

English and Dutch. On the beach, everyone sees the word in their own language and can guess in either one.

Are there bots?

Gulliver is one, and he never pretends otherwise. When there aren’t enough people on the beach, robot crabs fill in. They’re always marked as bots, and make room when people join.
